Position Details: Work Shift: Scheduled Weekly Hours: 0 Department: Imaging Services Overview of Position: The radiology assistant works under the direct supervision of the registered radiologic technologist and is responsible for basic supportive care to specified patient/families.
The position assists in providing radiographic services to support the organizational mission of high quality, efficient care with emphasis on serving the unique needs of each customer.
The position will emphasize an excellent customer experience in a clean and safe environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES 1.
Assists with customer service issues by collecting applicable information and directing concerns appropriately.
2.
Prepares patients for imaging exams and fluoroscopy procedures in accordance with established protocols.
3.
Responsible for preparing all related documents for ordered procedures.
Completes patient screening questionnaires pertaining to diagnostic testing, e.
g.
MRI, PET, and CT clearance sheets.
4.
Enters, modifies, and cancels orders as requested by staff radiographer.
5.
Maintains stocking of accessory supplies, patient care items, and cleanliness of general radiography areas, as well as submitting inventory requests in an accurate and timely manner.
6.
Assists with transportation of patients to various areas of the hospital for radiographic procedures.
7.
Maintains working knowledge of medical terminology and current applications in the field of radiologic technology through seminars, educational programs, and self-study.
8.
Responsible for performing a variety of technical tasks and direct patient care activities- assist with IV starts, as well as non-technical and indirect patient care activities under the supervision of a radiologic technologist.
9.
Ensures filing cabinets, computer and office area is locked and/or secured to prevent breach of confidentiality or unpermitted access to information.
10.
Effectively uses functions of various software systems (HIS, RIS, and PACS) to process, access and distribute imaging- related information.
11.
Communications effectively with patients by both listening and speaking with them and their families.
12.
Equipment utilization and submitting work orders if necessary 13.
Compliance with general radiation safety policies 14.
Compliance with all regulatory guidelines and policies.
15.
Assists with implementation of established safety regulations and required to respond correctly in emergency situations including: code blue, contrast media reactions, emergency operations, and trauma alerts.
16.
The willingness and interest to cross train in other areas to enhance operational effectiveness and efficiency.
17.
Supports the philosophy and objectives of Genesis healthcare system and demonstrates these to patients, guests, and hospital staff.
18.
Perform other duties, responsibilities and/or special projects as assigned by imaging manager, coordinators, or designated staff radiographer to maintain section and Department function.
QUALIFICATIONS 1.
High school graduate or equivalent.
2.
Currently a student in an accredited Radiologic Technology Program 3.
Upon Graduation of accredited Radiologic program must obtain certification from the ARRT within 3 months 4.
IV certified or obtain certification within 6 months from date of hire 5.
Demonstrates solid interpersonal communication skills to include written, verbal and telephone etiquette.
6.
Demonstrates technical skills to complete assignments, experience with word, excel, and other office equipment.
7.
Demonstrates the ability to learn department specific computer programs.
8.
Demonstrates the ability to complete projects within a productive timeframe.
9.
Demonstrates the ability to be self-directed, yet work well with others.
10.
Demonstrates the ability to problem-solve, organize, prioritize, function with minimal supervision while managing multiple tasks.
11.
