* File 232 *MORGAN LOCAL SCHOOLS* *JOB DESCRIPTION * *Position:* Transportation Support Staff *Department*: Transportation-Classified Bus Driver *Reports to:* Superintendent/Designee, Director of Operations, Transportation Dire *Employment Status:* Regular/Full-time *FLSA Status:* Non-Exempt *Job Objective: T*he transportation support staff shall perform substitute bus driver duties, office/ garage staff support, and safe transportation to and from school and for approved locations as approved by the supervisor.
*Minimum* *The employee must have a criminal records check, physical examination and drug test at point* *Qualifications: *of hire.
* Meets mandated state/federal criteria by possessing a valid CDL with passenger endorsement.
* Displays flexibility, reliability, self-discipline and a willingness to take on challenging tasks.
* Embodies high ethical standards/integrity.
Accepts responsibility for personal decisions/conduct.

Arrives prepared to start working on time.
Follows established sign in/out procedures.
* *Functions: Complies with program and/or building work hours/schedules.
* * Make daily inspections of the bus to determine that the bus is safe to operate and reports deficient items to the transportation supervisor and/or mechanic.
* Operates the bus in a manner which promotes safety of the passengers.
* Obey all traffic signals.
* Submits to all required drug and alcohol testing, and annual physicals.
* Assigns each student to a designated seat.
* Takes responsibility for orderly conduct of student passengers.
Uses appropriate forms to report student misbehavior to proper administrator.
* Conducts emergency drills as prescribed by Ohio Law.
* Keeps interior and exterior of the bus clean as per district policy and contract.
* Attends to student concerns discreetly when assistance is requested.
* Attends required safety meetings and in services.
* Maintains established routes and schedules, making changes only after consulting with Transportation Director or Director of Operations.
* Complies with drug-free workplace rules, board policies and administrative guidelines/procedures.
* Develops mutually respectful relationships with co-workers.
Functions as part of a cohesive team.
* Maintains a professional appearance.
Wears work attire appropriate for the position.
* Maintains an acceptable attendance record and is punctual.
* Performs all aspects of the job.
Contributes to an effective working/learning environment.

Performs tasks efficiently to meet deadlines.
* The employee will assist with dispatching, answering phones, general office tasks, and other duties as assigned if not driving a designated route.

fueling, cleaning) if not driving a designated route.
* The employee may be required to deliver spare buses in the event of a mechanical failure or other circumstances.
* The employee will assist the mechanics in general housekeeping duties if not driving a designated route.

Complies with district procedures and federal/state laws when dealing with discrimination, inappropriate behavior and/or suspected child abuse/neglect.
* If involved in an accident, shall immediately notify Transportation Office via FM radio or a telephone.
If unable to reach the transportation office by either of these methods, an older student or a passer-by shall be sent to carry notification to contact the Transportation Office or Director of Operations.
The driver shall not leave the bus while students are on it.
Shall not permit the bus to be fueled while pupils are on the bus or while motor is running.
Shall not allow unauthorized passengers to board the bus.

* While performing this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, talk, and hear.
The employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers and to feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.
* The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift or move 25 pounds, and occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.
Specific vision requirements include close vision, color and peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
