Overview:
From breakfast, lunch and dinner to groups both large and small – casual and high end dining and catering for them all! – As a chef/cook at The Wilds there are a variety of shifts and guests you may be preparing food for.
Our restaurant provides table service breakfast and dinner for our overnight lodging guests, supplies meals for our various education camps, and also assists in high volume catering for various groups and corporate outings.
Responsibilities:
Acts as primary Chef/Cook for either breakfast shift or dinner shift to include preparation and cooking of catering, special events and camp meals.
Assists Food & Beverage and Kitchen Coordinator in developing menus, reporting costs, and recommending retail pricing.
Performs daily tasks including cooking and food preparation, customer service, providing training and guidance as needed, cleaning kitchen and dining room facilities including equipment, register/computer operation, inventory control and organization/storage of all items associated with café and concession activities.
Works with Food & Beverage Manager and Kitchen Coordinator to forecast and plan for all orders pertaining to food service while staying within budgeted guidelines, providing for public and catering service for groups, camps, and special events.

Displays and adheres to exceptional customer service standards set for by the Food & Beverage team.
Assist in training and communicating the company policies and procedures to seasonal staff.
Establish and maintain an open and constant line of communication with the Food & Beverage Manager as well as the Kitchen Coordinator and Director of Operations.
Assists all aspects of the Food & Beverage daily operations.
Develop a thorough understanding of each POS program to assist with clerk duties.
Maintains correct sanitation and food safety behaviors to ensure compliance with OSHA and FDA and ServSafe and follows FIFO protocols.
Perform opening and closing procedures as required per shift needs.
Learn and follow emergency and safety procedures, food handling policy and procedures.
Assists Food & Beverage Manager and Kitchen Coordinator in maintaining proper inventory of supplies and orders food supplies, ingredients, and consumables.
Qualifications:
Formal education in food preparation or extensive experience in similar role.
3-5 years in a food service environment.
Supervisory experience preferred.
Strong organizational skills preferred with strong computer knowledge and skills.
Independent decision making/problem solving ability.
Work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays required.
Communicate well both verbally and in writing require.
Plan and organize work in an efficient and cost-effective manner.

Maintain cooperative working relationships with all Columbus Zoo Family of Parks team.
Adhere to standard operating procedures including but not limited to safety protocols.
Possession of a valid state issued motor vehicle operator’s license and a good driving record.
Successfully complete a criminal history background check.
