Company Description Licking County Child Support Enforcement Agency Job Description Duties: Prepares various legal documents (e.
g.
legal briefs, pleadings, memorandums, etc.
, initial child support orders, modifications, interstate and paternity cases, etc.
); conducts legal research and prepares legal briefs, memorandums, correspondence and pleadings as needed; drafts and reviews agreements and other documents for agency staff as needed; reviews agency programs, policies and forms for legal implications; performs related legal and administrative work (e.
g.
, drafts, orders, regulations, policies and other legal documents).
Prepares reports and maintains records.
Prepares and analyzes relevant statistical data for legal department per agency requirements to monitor and maintain information on programs and services.
Conducts conferences with other attorneys involving possible legal action in relation to cases assigned; answers child support related legal inquiries from clients, agency personnel, private legal counsel and general public (when appropriate authorization is provided and when there are no restrictions on such conversations such as individuals being represented by legal counsel); provides legal advice to Director, Legal Coordinator and agency staff as needed; confers with supervisor, legal counsel and members of the Licking County Court Systems concerning difficult legal problems / cases; provides backup to other agency attorneys and legal staff as needed.
Participates in and conducts litigation proceedings and / or administrative hearings involving agency matters; prepares cases for judicial hearings and / or conducts administrative hearings as hearing officer (e.
g.
reviews issues, attends pre-hearing conferences and court hearings; negotiates out of court settlements; conducts administrative hearings, questions witnesses, etc.
).
Remains informed of current development and procedures pertinent to duties; required to attend seminars / training.
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: -Admission to the Ohio Bar per Section 4705.
01 of the Ohio Revised Code.
Additional Qualifications (Agency/Dept.
Qualifications): -Must be an attorney in good standing with the Ohio Disciplinary Counsel and must have an active license to practice law in the state of Ohio.
-Must be knowledgeable of local, state and federal laws and possess excellent written and oral communication.
-Must be a registered notary.
-Previous experience with domestic relations / child support / family law experience preferred.
