Position Details: Work Shift: Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40 Department: Maintenance Overview of Position: Performs repairs and installations of electrical, electronic, and/or mechanical systems as assigned.
Performs preventative maintenance on electrical/electronic and/or mechanical systems as assigned.
Maintains environmental controls in Energy Management Systems.
Performs installations on construction and renovation projects.
Estimates time and material on projects.
Reads blueprints and works from sketches or verbal instructions.
Responds appropriately to the satisfaction of all customers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES 1.
Provides input to Plant Operations/Engineering management regarding department problems, concerns and solutions.
2.
Properly completes documentation on work orders and daily worksheets.
3.
Returns purchase order requisitions and paperwork to office upon completion, documenting time and material costs involved.
4.
Orders parts to replace those used.
5.
Works flexible hours to gain access to perform preventive maintenance of equipment unavailable during normal duty hours or as emergencies arise.
6.
Recognizes the need to collect more or better information to verify facts and ensure all relevant information is obtained.
7.
Uses problem solving skills to make resourceful decisions; weighs alternatives and alerts those affected before taking action.
8.
Identifies to management ideas for modifications to policies, standards, protocols and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and maintain safety.
9.
Initiates, as necessary, emergency procedures in Life Safety, Utility management, Disaster Preparedness and Hazardous Spills.
10.
Performs electrical work, i.
e.
, running and bending of conduit and wire cutting and splitting basic circuits.
Replaces receptacles and switches.
11.
Troubleshoots and repairs/replaces HVAC systems, Repairs/replaces plumbing systems, Brazes refrigeration piping, Repairs, replaces and/or rebuilds major equipment.
12.
Accurately reads meters, gauges, thermometers and other measuring devices to complete assigned logging and documents correctly.
13.
Observes electrical or mechanical devices in operation to determine causes of problems or potential problems.
14.
Performs work in accordance with established safety procedures.
15.
Cross-trains and learns additional skills as necessary.
16.
Performs other functions as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS 1.
High school graduate or equivalency.
2.
Minimum of five (5) years experience in electrical or mechanical trade or graduate of technical trade school.
3.
Must have valid driver’s license.
4.
Certification in area of expertise (if necessary to perform work).
5.
Ability to comprehend and apply technical and verify documentation, including schematics, technical specifications and regulatory codes and standards.
6.
Proficiency in working with various tools such as hammer drills, cut saw, electrical meters, conduit benders, knock-out punch, etc.
7.
Strong problem solving skills.
