Functional Purpose Regularly operates Postal and leased vehicles to pick up and transfer bulk quantities of mail between Postal and non-Postal facilities.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1.
Operates a vehicle weighing less than 26,000 pounds with varying time schedules and route assignments.
2.
Picks up and delivers bulk mail quantities from Postal facilities, picks up mail from collection boxes or non-Postal facilities (i.

, shipping and mailing customers) to accommodate operations.
3.
Ascertains the condition of the vehicle prior to leaving and in returning to assigned facility; reports all accidents, notes mechanical defects, and mechanical failures during the course of the trip and adheres to USPS safety procedures.
4.
Makes adjustments to line of travel in the event of an emergency and as soon as safely possible notifies supervision of any changes.
5.
Loads and unloads mail volumes and secures containers in the truck.
Uses portable electronic scanner to make required scans and prepares daily trip reports showing work performed.
6.
Makes minor repairs to truck in emergencies while on route.
Performs other duties as assigned by a supervisor.
