The operator technician 3 demonstrates leadership skills, taking on additional responsibilities within the team to achieve factory business objectives of safety, quality, productivity, customer service, cost and environmental protection.
The primary accountabilities of the role include daily Liquid Making Operation, Liquid Making Laboratory testing, Liquid Making Utilities, quality procedures, safety compliance, equipment maintenance procedures, data collection, housekeeping responsibilities, meeting facilitation, problem solving and continuous improvement as part of a work team.
The Liquid Making Operator will be required to pass a hazmat physical and respirator fit test.
Hazmat, PSM, Confined Space, Boiler, and DOT training is required.
The Operator Technician 3 works within a structure that requires considerable leadership, ownership and interaction with other team members in the same production unit as well as other production units and support functions.
Core Responsibilities: Primary responsibility may include but not limited to the Operation, Cleaning, Lubrication, Inspection, Troubleshooting and Changeover of chemical process equipment.
The understanding and use of WonderWare computer operating system for process control, adjustment, data trending, and troubleshooting in relationship to Liquid Making equipment.
Knowledgeable chemical properties and their relationship to the manufacturing process and equipment.
Supports the plant engineering team in design and experimental manufacturing product and processes in determining equipment capabilities and formulation.
Responsibilities for equipment identified in Liquid Making and Liquid Making Laboratory.
Responsibilities include strong computer skills and understanding of computer controlled operation.
Facilitate a review of operating information with team members.
Identifies area equipment improvement opportunities based on trends and data and supports area leaders in developing action plans to address opportunities.
Responsibilities for a level 3 technician supporting transportation and logistics requires strong communications skills, daily interaction with in-house transportation partners, suppliers, Annex, operating teams and support functions.
Responsibilities for a level 3 technician in the chemical process area require strong communication skills, daily interaction with contactors, transportation partners, operating teams and support functions.
Strong mechanical and technical background, troubleshooting and computer skills with an understanding of SAP, SDS and Bill of Lading Systems.
Identifies area process improvement opportunities based on data and supports area leaders in developing action plans to address opportunities.
Assist maintenance, engineering team, contractors and operating team members in troubleshooting and performing minor repairs on production equipment.
Takes initiative to participate and support implementation of continuous learning opportunities.
Seeks and shares knowledge in the work team to further develop skills of team members and self.
Understands how to access EAM to issue a work request notification.
Has responsibility for the PM star point role, working with the Area Leader, Focus Resource and Maintenance Planner to prioritize activities on scheduled PMs.
Confirms availability of raw materials needed for current and next scheduled production run.
Coordinates with others on the operating, planning and logistic team to ensure availability of materials.
Effective communication between liquid making and finishing line to ensure liquid availability.
Understands and adheres to Colgate Quality, GMP and Micro (Cleaning and Sanitization) standards and guidelines.
Daily responsibilities for performing quality sampling may include but not limited to, accurate completion of daily shift production lot numbers, visual checks, area cleaning checklist and pulling analytical samples as required.
Understands and adheres to EHS requirements for the facility.
Adheres to Minimum Safe Behaviors (MSB’S), wears personal protective equipment (PPE) where required.
Supports accident investigation and forward actions identified.
Addresses behaviors of team members as needed.
Chemical process area has responsibility for the EHS star point role and participation in monthly safety team meetings.
Required to be DOT, Haz Mat, and Boiler trained.
The Operator Technician Level 3 should have training of the site's PSM (Process Safety Management) Program and with evacuation procedures.
The Operator Technician Level 3 working in Liquid Making is responsible to operate the PSM covered processes in accordance with site policy and procedures.
Will be required to pass a hazmat physical and respirator fit test.
The Operator Technician Level 3 working in Liquid Making will report deficiencies using the Notification process in SAP EAM, or as necessary using verbal or written communication with Area Leaders or Managers.
The Operator Technician 3 working in Liquid Making will assist engineering during PHA's and will review operating procedures annually or as needed.
The Operator Technician 3 working in Liquid Making should complete a PSM 100 workshop within one calendar year from the hire date or date assigned to work in the area.
Responsibility for safe operation of forklift in loading and unloading of materials from delivery vehicles and delivery of those materials and supplies to the assigned storage tanks or production areas as needed.
Direct responsibility for bulk truck unloading of raw materials.
Prepares and loads bulk finished product for shipment to customers.
Understands applicable requirements (WMS, BOL, DOT, Haz MAT) to ship and receive materials.

Facilitates and takes a leadership role in scheduled reviews of team production performance and uses information to drive continuous improvement opportunities.
Utilizes and applies continuous improvement tools such as Root Cause Analysis in identifying opportunities to resolve issues, implementing forward actions to improve results.
Demonstrate personal leadership, including demonstration of Colgate-Palmolive Managing with Respect values.
The Individual Education: High school degree or equivalent required.
Vocational school or technical institute preferred.
