Job Description Summary: This position is responsible for overall continuous improvement in facilities, equipment, and processes at both North American foundry locations within the Freight Components group.
This position will be physically located at the SanCasT, Coshocton Ohio location, but will also have responsibility to support the Wabtec Foundry, Wallaceburg Ontario location.
Travel to the Wallaceburg site will be required from time to time, both on a regular basis and/or project specific basis.
The position will generally be responsible for overall improvements in process and equipment to optimize the overall efficiency and reliability of our foundry operations.
This position will also support other functional needs within the organization as needed to support overall success of business objectives.
This position will report directly to the General Manager - Foundry Operations but will have a day-to-day reporting relationship with the Plant Manager.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities Include the following.
Other duties may be assigned by management.
• Exhibits strong self-managerial skills to include establishing, improving, implementing, and maintaining effective preventative maintenance programs.
Establish a critical equipment spare parts list that can be used to prioritize and manage downtime reduction, along with procedures to maintain a readiness plan.
Assist Maintenance Managers with property repair and equipment maintenance priorities to meet to budget.
Schedules and employs TPM methods to mitigate unplanned downtime on production equipment, reduce life cycle costs and extend the life of equipment.
Implement methods to measure and track improvements.
Identify and lead projects that drive improvement, improve efficiency, reduce waste, and reduce scrap Participate and/or lead various Kaizen activities to support continuous improvement at both facilities.
Assist with Maintenance Technician training and development Assist with administrative duties such as procurement, store room inventory and organization Assist with CAPEX project management, including procurement process and justification, manage contractors, manager completion and verify savings.
Negotiate contracts with vendors to ensure proper support to the organization is achieved at the best price.
Assist Quality Manager with identifying and implementing improvement actions to improve process reliability and reduce COPQ.
Tooling Maintenance – manage internal repairs as required and work with subcontractors for tooling needing repair beyond in-house capabilities Assist with internal auditing to assure compliance to M-1003 and ISO 9001:2015 Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: • Strong knowledge of Foundry Equipment and processes.
Knowledge of general plant practices, floor layout and procedures • Possesses excellent organizational skills as well as oral and written communication skills • Able to work independently and work well within a group or team • Possesses strong computer skills in MS Office to include excel, word, access, and intranet system maintenance • Adheres to all safety regulations and practices and established company policies, including attending all safety training.
• Has the ability to learn quickly and apply new skills immediately Experience with the following operating systems would be an asset: Oracle, HICX and Coupa Qualifications To perform this job successfully, the following requirements must be met: Education/Experience High School graduate, or general education degree (GED), bachelor’s degree preferred, or 10 years of related experience/training or equivalent combination of education and experience in a foundry manufacturing environment.
Travel Willing to travel up to 20% of the time on an as needed basis and sometimes on short notice.
Must be able and willing to travel for multiple days at a time and have the required credentials for travel to and from the US and Canada.
Language Ability to read and interpret, customer drawings and specifications as well as quality requirements for compliance, production schedules, measurements, shipping and receiving reports, tagging.
Able to communicate clearly and effectively with coworkers.
Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Ability to think quickly and react to situations under time constraints.
Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines with accuracy and thoroughness.
Able to identify problems and resolve effectively and efficiently.
